12-8-2023 (KUALA LUMPUR) Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim held a productive meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Friday, emphasizing the commitment of both sides to strengthen cooperation across various sectors.
Reflecting on his successful visit to China earlier this year, Anwar expressed his appreciation for China’s reliability and friendship, highlighting the special and amicable relationship between the two nations that has facilitated robust bilateral cooperation.
The prime minister commended the active implementation of the agreements reached by the leaders of Malaysia and China, noting significant progress in areas such as the economy, trade, investment, culture, and tourism.
Anwar extended a warm invitation to Chinese companies, encouraging them to expand their investments in Malaysia. He expressed Malaysia’s readiness to deepen collaboration with China in diverse fields, fostering mutual benefits and achieving win-win outcomes.

Wang, referring to Anwar as an esteemed friend of the Chinese people, emphasized the solid foundation of trust and friendship established between the leaders of both countries. As a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, Wang underscored the joint vision of building a China-Malaysia community with a shared future.
China remains committed to maintaining the positive and robust development of bilateral relations with Malaysia. Wang expressed the desire to enhance the well-being of both nations and contribute to regional development and revitalization.
Highlighting the similarities between China and Malaysia as emerging markets and developing countries, Wang emphasized the alignment of their development principles and shared interests. The high-quality cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative between the two countries has yielded fruitful outcomes.
Wang acknowledged the successful implementation and positive economic and social impact of Belt and Road projects in Malaysia, such as the East Coast Rail Link and the “Two Countries, Twin Parks.” He expressed China’s willingness to share the abundant market opportunities and expand cooperative endeavors with Malaysia, fostering mutual benefits, achieving win-win results, and promoting common development.
In addition to the meeting with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Wang also held discussions with Malaysian Minister of Foreign Affairs Zambry Abdul Kadir, further solidifying the commitment to strengthen bilateral ties.
