16-2-2024 (KUALA LUMPUR) In a joint operation conducted by the Malaysian police and their Taiwanese counterparts, four Taiwanese nationals, along with three local individuals, were arrested in Kuala Lumpur. The suspects, aged between 31 and 44, were apprehended just two days after arriving in Malaysia, where they had intended to establish a fraudulent call center base.
Datuk Seri Ramli, the director of the Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Bureau, announced the successful operation during a press conference. He disclosed that the Taiwanese suspects were wanted for their involvement in fraud and organized criminal activities. The swift action by law enforcement prevented the call center from commencing operations.
The arrested Taiwanese individuals are currently under investigation by the Immigration Bureau. Authorities seized essential evidence during the operation, including 12 mobile phones, 3 passports, 1 document, and 2 vehicles.
