20-11-2024 (KUALA L UMPUR) Malaysian police have successfully apprehended 16 individuals, including two Chinese nationals, following a brazen daylight robbery at a scrap metal facility in Selangor state.
Acting District Police Chief DSP Mohd Sufian Amin reported that the suspects, ranging in age from 30 to 50, were captured within an hour of the incident, which occurred at a factory in Telok Panglima Garang on November 9.
The swift police response came after the factory manager alerted authorities at approximately 2:30 PM, reporting that an organised group had forcibly entered the premises and begun loading metal sheets and scrap materials onto a lorry without authorisation.
“Our Criminal Investigation Department team acted promptly, intercepting the suspects and recovering all stolen materials,” DSP Mohd Sufian stated. During the operation, law enforcement officials seized several items including a licensed firearm containing 20 live rounds, a machete, and a vehicle believed to have been used in the heist.
Background checks revealed that eight of the detained individuals had previous criminal records. The suspects have been remanded in custody for three days starting November 10, as investigations continue under Section 395 of the Penal Code.
