2-10-2023 (BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN) A Malaysian man, Lee Sze Siang, aged 25, has been directed to pay a hefty fine of BND76,900 (equivalent to RM265,000) for the possession of smuggled e-cigarettes and vape items. The ruling was issued by Acting Senior Magistrate Dewi Norlelawati Abdul Hamid, who also ordered that Lee serves 25 months in jail if he fails to pay the fine.
Lee pleaded guilty to the charges of having thousands of e-cigarettes and vape items in his possession.
Prosecutor Syafina binti Abdul Hadzid informed the court that Customs preventive officers conducted an inspection of Lee’s car upon its arrival at the Sungai Tujoh Control Post on September 18 at 2 pm, leading to the discovery of the contraband.
