13-10-2023 (KUALA LUMPUR) The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) is working with the Australian Federal Police (AFP) to investigate the arrest of a Malaysian man in connection with a significant drug seizure in Melbourne. The Bukit Aman Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) director, Datuk Seri Kamarudin Md Din, confirmed that the 34-year-old man was one of four individuals apprehended after authorities discovered 622kg of methamphetamine.
In a statement released on Thursday (October 12th), Datuk Seri Kamarudin Md Din emphasized that all necessary actions would be taken to eliminate drug distribution and smuggling activities that pose a threat to the country without compromise.
Earlier reports revealed that Australian police had arrested four men after intercepting a shipment of toilet paper rolls containing hidden methamphetamine. The shipment had arrived in Melbourne via sea from Malaysia on October 4th. The seized drugs have an estimated street value of nearly A$560 million (RM1.7 billion).
