The unsuspecting couple, Allen Tee and his girlfriend, experienced a devastating intrusion into their privacy, leaving them shocked and disgruntled.
Allen Tee shared the harrowing details of the incident on Xiaohongshu, describing the moment they returned to their hotel room to find all four suitcases ruthlessly cut open. The thief not only made off with cash, wallets, cards, computers, iPads, and phones but even took a new pony skirt belonging to Tee’s girlfriend. To add insult to injury, the audacious thief used their credit card to make purchases, including a transaction at McDonald’s.
The incident unfolded on December 3rd, with Tee expressing his dissatisfaction with the hotel management and local authorities. Despite being aware of the prevalent risks of pickpocketing and street robberies in Paris, the couple had taken precautions and opted for the supposedly secure Holiday Inn.
In a surprising twist, another guest at the same hotel, a Frenchman fluent in Chinese, discovered the thief in his room. Confronting the intruder, he managed to capture photographic evidence, linking the stolen items to Allen Tee. The photographs revealed the thief with a bag containing the Malaysian couple’s belongings.
Allen Tee raised concerns about the hotel’s security, suggesting that outsiders had unrestricted access to the premises. The thief, having successfully stolen the items, nonchalantly exited the hotel without raising suspicion.
Upon reporting the incident to the police, Tee was disappointed by the lack of urgency and seriousness with which the authorities treated the matter. Despite providing evidence and details, the police seemed indifferent, conducting routine interactions primarily in French, leaving the victims frustrated.
Disheartened by the hotel and local authorities’ response, the couple decided to relocate to another hotel. They expressed disappointment at the lack of assistance and empathy, having to spend additional money to replace the stolen belongings. Despite the setback, they chose to continue their trip, albeit with some canceled activities.
