16-2-2024 (KUALA LUMPUR) WhatsApp has finally introduced the long-awaited feature that allows Malaysian Android users to use two accounts on a single device. After announcing the feature in October last year, the popular messaging app has now rolled it out to provide users with added convenience.
To add a second account to a device, users need to navigate to the settings menu and tap on the dropdown icon next to their account name. From there, they will find the option to add a new account.
Once the option is selected, the app will prompt users to accept its terms of service, similar to when adding an account for the first time. Users will then be required to input the phone number associated with the second account in order to receive a one-time passcode via SMS. This passcode is necessary to link the account to the device.
After completing these steps, users will be able to receive messages sent to both accounts on the same device. Additionally, they will have more control over privacy and notification settings for each individual account.
WhatsApp believes that this new feature will greatly enhance user convenience by eliminating the need to manually log out and switch accounts for different purposes, such as work or personal use.
As of now, WhatsApp has not confirmed when the ability to add multiple accounts will be rolled out to WhatsApp on iOS and desktop platforms.
