7-7-2023 (KUALA LUMPUR) Nia Atasha, a Malaysian actress and model, has become an overnight sensation on social media after announcing her collaboration with international lingerie brand Victoria’s Secret. At 27 years old, Nia is proud to be the first Malay woman to work with the renowned lingerie brand, making history in the process. In an interview, she expressed her excitement about being part of the Victoria’s Secret lineup, a dream she had cherished since entering the modeling industry.
“It’s an honor for me. Ever since I stepped into the world of modeling, I’ve always aspired to be a Victoria’s Secret model,” Nia shared.
Nia also took to Instagram to share her excitement, posting pictures of herself at the press conference and collaboration ceremony. She described her feelings as unbelievable. Alongside Nia, Jane Teoh, the 2018 Miss Universe Malaysia, was also selected to participate in the same event.

Numerous Malaysian celebrities congratulated Nia and expressed their pride in her achievement by leaving messages on her Instagram. However, some Malaysian netizens expressed their disagreement with a Malay Muslim woman becoming a lingerie model, stating that Nia’s behavior of not covering her modesty contradicts Islamic teachings and has left them unhappy.
Despite the criticism, Nia chose not to respond to negative comments from netizens. Born and raised in Kuala Lumpur, Nia Atasha entered the fashion industry in 2014. She graduated from Mara Institute of Technology with a degree in Graphic Design. Apart from her modeling career, Nia is also involved in various art forms, showcasing her vibrant creations through painting, ceramics, embroidery, and more on her separate Instagram account, @sleepystudio.
Nia has also appeared in several television dramas and films, including “Inikah Dikatakan Cinta,” “Budak Tebing 3,” “Ceroboh,” “Life Lila,” “Gila Gusti,” “Kuasa,” “Souers,” and many others. Besides Victoria’s Secret, Nia has worked as a model for other renowned brands such as Calvin Klein, Louis Vuitton, Dior, Gucci, and more.
