1-12-2023 (KUALA LUMPUR) Commencing from December 1, all foreign nationals journeying to Malaysia will be required to complete the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC), as announced by the Immigration Department of Malaysia via a Facebook post on the same day. The online card must be filled out before travelers arrive in the country.
Exceptions to this new requirement apply exclusively to Malaysia’s permanent residents, holders of the Malaysia Automated Clearance System pass, and individuals transiting or transferring through Singapore without the need for immigration clearance.
The MDAC website, managed by the Immigration Department, stipulates that the digital card should be completed within three days prior to arriving in Malaysia. Travelers are obligated to provide personal details such as their name, nationality, passport information, as well as arrival and departure dates through the designated website.
In January 2023, Singaporean citizens were granted access to e-gate facilities at the two land entry points in Johor Bahru, with the prerequisite of pre-filling the MDAC. This initiative was subsequently expanded a month later, allowing both Singaporeans and foreign nationals from nine designated “low-risk” countries to utilize autogate facilities for immigration clearance at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.
