9-7-2023 (BANGKOK) According to a recent opinion survey conducted by the National Institute of Development Administration (Nida Poll), a majority of respondents expressed confidence in the ability of the eight-party coalition to successfully appoint Pita Limjaroenrat, the leader of the Move Forward Party, as the next prime minister.
The survey, carried out through telephone interviews from July 5 to July 7, involved 1,310 participants aged 18 and over from diverse educational, occupational, and income backgrounds across the country. The objective was to gauge public opinion on the likelihood of the Move Forward Party, Pheu Thai, and six other smaller parties forming a government and facilitating Mr. Pita’s ascension to the prime minister’s post.
Regarding satisfaction with Wan Muhamad Noor Matha of the Prachachart Party as the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the results indicated that 45.50% were fairly satisfied, 37.40% were very satisfied, 9.54% were fairly unsatisfied, 6.34% were totally unsatisfied, and 1.22% either had no answer or were uninterested.
When asked which party, between the Move Forward Party and Pheu Thai, would benefit more from Wan Muhamad Noor Matha’s appointment as House speaker, 58.93% believed that both parties would benefit equally, 23.13% pointed to Pheu Thai, 7.94% pointed to the Move Forward Party, 6.95% said neither party would benefit, and 3.05% had no answer or were uninterested.
Regarding the sincerity of the eight-party coalition in joining forces to form a government, 55.27% of respondents answered affirmatively, while 43.97% expressed skepticism. The remaining 0.76% had no answer or were uninterested.
Encouragingly, 64.80% of participants believed that the eight-party coalition would succeed in their endeavor to appoint Mr. Pita as the prime minister, while 34.28% held the opposite view. The remaining 0.92% had no answer or were uninterested.
