3-7-2024 (KUALA LUMPUR) In a bizarre incident that unfolded on the Kuala Selangor-Sungai Buloh road near the Elmina Industrial Area in Sungai Pelong last night, dozens of containers filled with fresh seafood were scattered across the highway after the metal barrier of the lorry transporting them apparently gave way.
According to Sungai Buloh District Police Chief Superintendent Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor, the authorities received a report about the incident at around 7:49 pm from members of the public present at the scene.
“The incident occurred when the metal barrier of the lorry is believed to have opened as it negotiated a bend in the road, causing several containers of seafood cargo to fall onto the road,” Superintendent Mohd Hafiz said in a statement today.

He noted that the lorry driver had not yet lodged a police report regarding the incident.
Earlier, videos and images of the incident had gone viral on social media, showing members of the public and road users scrambling to collect the spilled seafood, including squids and fish, which were scattered along the road and on the roadside grass.
One social media user even quipped in a tweet that “people are now grabbing the squids” by the side of the road.
