16-7-2023 (Bandar Seri Begawan) A local drug trafficking suspect in Brunei is facing multiple charges, including one carrying the death penalty, according to local media reports on Saturday. Mohamad Sharifudin, a 38-year-old local man, is accused of trafficking 193.5 grams of pure methylamphetamine in 247.04 grams of crystals in February, according to the local Borneo Bulletin daily.
The charges carry the death penalty as the alleged amount of methylamphetamine is over 100 grams. Prosecutors have also leveled a possession charge against the defendant involving 8.19 grams of pure meth on the same occasion. The case has been fixed for a preliminary inquiry on Nov. 22-23.
