8-11-2023 (KUALA LUMPUR) In an unexpected turn of events at a laundromat in Kangar, Perlis, two customers found themselves struggling to stuff a mattress into a dryer. The peculiar incident was captured on CCTV footage, leaving the owner of the establishment stunned. The incident serves as a reminder of the potential dangers associated with disregarding the rules.
Malaysia’s northeast monsoon season had brought about incessant rain and cold weather, leaving many individuals with damp laundry. As a result, self-service laundromats experienced a surge in customers seeking to dry their wet clothes. However, the laundromat in Kangar witnessed a rather unusual spectacle.
A man and a woman were seen grappling with a large green mattress, evidently attempting to fit it into a dryer. With considerable effort, they rolled the mattress into a cylindrical shape, hoping to make it more manageable. Together, they hoisted the coiled-up mattress and tried to place it inside the dryer.
To their dismay, the mattress proved too bulky to fit through the appliance’s door. A substantial portion of it protruded, preventing the door from closing properly. Perplexed by their predicament, the woman scratched her head in bewilderment. Oddly enough, it appeared that they had already tried to stuff another mattress into a different dryer earlier, but with the same unsuccessful outcome.
The laundromat owner, Jiang Kaiwei, discovered the incident through the surveillance cameras. He expressed astonishment at the customers’ audacity, considering that previous patrons had been known to place prohibited items like school bags, carpets, and shoes in the washers and dryers. However, a mattress of such size and nature was beyond anything he had encountered before.
Jiang Kaiwei cautioned that latex mattresses, when placed in dryers, could potentially melt and even trigger a fire within the laundromat. It was imperative for such mattresses to be air-dried instead. Fortunately, in this particular case, the situation did not escalate to such extremes since the dryer doors could not be fully closed. Eventually, the customers gave up and removed the mattresses.
