24-8-2023 (HANOI) In a bid to fortify their collaboration in multilateral people-to-people diplomatic endeavors, particularly within the auspices of the World Peace Council, Laos and Vietnam have taken significant steps forward.
As revealed in a report released on Wednesday by the Committee for External Relations of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, a delegation from the Vietnam Peace Committee, under the leadership of its Chairman, Uong Chu Luu, undertook a productive working visit to Laos. The visit spanned from August 19th to August 22nd and was conducted at the gracious invitation of Vice President of the National Assembly of Laos and Chairman of the Lao Committee for Peace and Solidarity, Sommad Pholsena.
During a meeting with Lao National Assembly President Xaysomphone Phomvihane on Tuesday, Uong Chu Luu underscored Vietnam’s enduring appreciation for the invaluable support extended by their Lao counterparts during Vietnam’s historical struggle for national independence and liberation. Furthermore, he acknowledged their ongoing contribution to Vietnam’s contemporary efforts in national development and defense.
In response, Xaysomphone reaffirmed the profound significance of the Vietnamese delegation’s visit and the partnership between the two committees. He asserted that this collaboration serves to augment and deepen the bonds of great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation that exist between the two nations, their political parties, governments, and peoples.
The report highlights that both sides underscored the paramount importance of people-to-people exchanges. They also emphasized the critical necessity of bolstering the education of tradition and peace, especially among the youth, in order to foster enduring harmony and cooperation.
