20-12-2023 (BANGKOK) Lalisa “Lisa” Manoban, Thailand’s first K-pop princess and a member of the South Korean all-girl band Blackpink, has been recognized by the Guinness World Records as the world’s top solo K-pop artist of 2023 and the greatest in the genre’s history.
As the year 2023 comes to a close, Guinness World Records’ compilation of remarkable performances and achievements showcases the global phenomenon of K-pop, with Lisa emerging as one of its most influential figures.
Guinness World Records stated, “2023 was a monumental year for K-pop, with Lisa setting three records in January alone. She became the first solo K-pop artist to win at the MTV Video Music Awards, the first solo K-pop artist to win at the MTV Europe Music Awards, and also achieved the record for having the highest number of Instagram followers among K-pop artists.”
Continuing their record-breaking spree, the group Blackpink also secured the title of the girl group with the highest streaming numbers on Spotify.
Lisa’s solo track “Lalisa” further solidified her place in history by becoming the first K-pop song to surpass 1 billion streams on Spotify.
With a total of eight officially recognized Guinness World Records, Lisa has solidified her status as the most significant solo K-pop artist in history, garnering global recognition.
Lisa’s achievements continued as she became the first K-pop artist to be featured in the “Cultural Icon” category of the “Asian Hall of Fame” this year.
Since her debut with Blackpink in 2016, Lisa’s fame has skyrocketed. Her solo album, “Lalisa,” released in 2021, featured two chart-topping tracks – “Lalisa” and “Money.”
Meanwhile, Blackpink’s overall popularity was showcased through their groundbreaking victories at the Billboard Music Awards, and their “Born Pink” world tour stood out as the highest-grossing Asian artist show of the year.
