2-1-2024 (SINGAPORE) Five individuals were hospitalized with knife wounds after an incident that took place on the 11th floor of Orchard Central mall in the early hours of New Year’s Day. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) received a distress call at approximately 4:10 a.m. on January 1, prompting their response to 181 Orchard Road, where they transported the injured parties to Singapore General Hospital.
The victims, all males aged between 18 and 30, were reportedly attacked by another 30-year-old man, who was subsequently arrested for voluntarily causing harm with a dangerous weapon. The police have initiated investigations into the matter.
Outside the closed Ark 11 dance club, there were visible blood droplets, while a nearby toilet wall exhibited a smear of blood. Mr. Arumuganathan Anbazhagan, a 50-year-old gardener working at Orchard Central for the past two months, noticed the blood stains upon arriving for work on January 2. He described the discovery as unusual and mentioned that the stains were present near the garden, rear corridor, and outside the toilet.
According to a female employee in her 30s, who wished to remain anonymous, a significant amount of blood was found outside a lift lobby on January 1. She learned about the incident from her colleagues when she arrived for work at approximately 10:30 a.m. However, she did not witness any police presence at the scene during that time.
When contacted, a spokesperson for Ark 11 declined to provide further details, stating that the incident occurred outside the club’s premises after its closure. The spokesperson expressed the club’s reluctance to comment, citing ongoing police investigations and the varying accounts provided by different parties involved.
