7-10-2024 (KUALA LUMPUR) Commuters in Malaysia’s capital faced an unexpected hiccup in their evening travel plans on Monday as train services on the busy Kelana Jaya Line ground to a temporary halt. The disruption, caused by a reported track intrusion, affected the stretch between Masjid Jamek and Bangsar stations, two key stops on this vital artery of Kuala Lumpur’s public transport network.
Train operator RapidKL alerted passengers to the situation via social media at 7:46 pm, stating, “Trains are experiencing service disruption between Masjid Jamek and Bangsar due to a track intrusion. Track inspections are being conducted to locate the intruder.”
The incident prompted immediate action from transit authorities, who initiated a thorough search of the affected area. However, despite their efforts, no trespassers were located during the inspection.
In a follow-up announcement at 8:06 pm, barely twenty minutes after the initial alert, RapidKL informed travellers that services were set to resume. “The trespassers could not be found, and train services will be resumed,” the operator confirmed, adding that “train frequency is being regulated and will return to normal shortly.”
