2-6-2023 (BANGKOK) Tragedy struck at Kata Beach in Phuket as a Kazakhstani tourist drowned after reportedly ignoring the red flags indicating dangerous swimming conditions. The incident was brought to the attention of Karon Police by a lifeguard at Kata Beach yesterday afternoon, who discovered the body of the tourist identified as 24-year-old Artur Iskakov from Kazakhstan.
According to the lifeguards, they received information about the unconscious state of the Kazakhstani tourist approximately five minutes before they arrived at the scene. They swiftly used a jet-ski to retrieve Iskakov from the water and bring him back to the beach, where emergency responders were immediately summoned. Sadly, Iskakov was pronounced dead at the site.
During the time of the tragic incident, a red flag was displayed on the beach, serving as a clear warning to beachgoers against swimming due to the presence of strong waves and currents.
The authorities emphasize the importance of heeding such warnings and exercising caution when visiting beaches, as they are in place for the safety of the public.
