26-1-2024 (CALIFORNIA) Grammy-winning artist Justin Timberlake has made a nostalgic comeback with the release of his latest single, “Selfish,” marking his first solo music release since his 2018 album “Man of the Woods.” The introspective love song explores themes of jealousy and appreciation.
In collaboration with songwriters Louis Bell, Cirkut, Theron Thomas, and Amy Allen, Timberlake co-wrote “Selfish.” The accompanying music video, directed by Bradley J. Calder, offers a glimpse into Timberlake’s music-video production process.
The track serves as the lead single for Timberlake’s upcoming album titled “Everything I Thought It Was,” set to be released by RCA Records on March 15. The artist has described the album as “incredibly honest” and promises it to be a lot of fun.
During an interview with Apple Music 1’s Zane Lowe, Timberlake revealed that he worked extensively on the album, producing a staggering 100 songs. He expressed his excitement, claiming that this album is his best work to date.
In addition to the release of “Selfish” and his upcoming album, Timberlake announced a one-night-only performance at Irving Plaza in New York City on January 31. This event marks a significant return for the artist, who maintained a relatively low profile in the past year.
Timberlake made headlines last year due to revelations about his relationship with Britney Spears in her memoir, “The Woman in Me.” Despite the controversy, he attended the premiere of the animated movie “Trolls Band Together” and headlined the opening of Fontainebleau Las Vegas.
The artist will also grace the stage of “Saturday Night Live” as a musical guest. Having hosted the sketch series five times and with frequent guest appearances, Timberlake has won four Emmy Awards for his performances. He expressed his excitement about returning to Studio 8H and hinted at the possibility of participating in some sketches.
