13-6-2023 (HANOI) Meiko, a prominent Japanese electronics company, has announced its plans to construct a new factory in northern Hoa Binh Province, Vietnam. The project, which involves the production of printed circuit boards, will be implemented at a total cost of VND4.66 trillion (approximately $200 million). Meiko intends to lease a 9.2-hectare plot of land in Hoa Binh Province, marking its fourth manufacturing facility in Vietnam. Local authorities have expressed their full support for the project.
Meiko’s entry into the Vietnamese market dates back to 2006 when the company made its initial investment by establishing a factory in the suburban district of Thach That, located in Hanoi. At the time, this venture was regarded as one of the top 10 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects in the country.
Currently, Meiko operates three printed circuit board factories in Vietnam, representing a total investment of $500 million and employing approximately 7,000 individuals. Alongside its manufacturing facilities in Vietnam, the company boasts five factories in Japan and two in China.
