11-8-2023 (TOKYO) Livestreams have become a popular medium for fans to connect with their favorite celebrities, but there are boundaries that should not be crossed. Japanese actor Yosuke Kubozuka recently found himself in hot water after a controversial incident during an Instagram Live session on Wednesday night (Aug 9). The actor, seemingly intoxicated, engaged with his fans while crossing the line of decency.
During the livestream, a male voice off-camera could be heard pleading with Kubozuka, “Before doing this, please listen to me.” Ignoring the plea, the 44-year-old actor stood up and exposed his genitals to an audience of over 2,000 viewers. The uncomfortable act left many of his fans shocked and appalled.
This is not the first time Yosuke Kubozuka’s behavior on Instagram Live has raised eyebrows. In 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic, he became known for erratic behavior, such as playing loud music after midnight and drunkenly discussing gut-healthy foods. He even fell asleep during a livestream, prompting his son, model-actor Airu Kubozuka, to end the stream the following morning.
The actor has also faced criticism for his comments about fellow actor Yusuke Iseya, who was arrested on suspicion of cannabis possession. During a livestream, Kubozuka allegedly defended Iseya, stating, “There are worse guys out there than Iseya-kun. Stop blaming Iseya-kun, he hasn’t killed anyone.” He later took to Instagram to claim that the media had twisted his words, denying that he was defending Yusuke Iseya.
Yosuke Kubozuka made his acting debut in the 1995 crime drama “Kindaichi Case File” and gained recognition in the industry. His performance in the 2001 coming-of-age film “Go” earned him the Japan Academy Film Prize for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role and Newcomer of the Year. In 2016, he made his Hollywood debut in Martin Scorsese’s remake of “Silence.”
