1-9-2023 (JAKARTA) Jakarta witnessed the culmination of security preparations for the 43rd ASEAN Summit as National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo and Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI) Commander Admiral Yudo Margono led the Security Force Roll Call at Monas on Friday. The roll call served as a final check of the event’s security readiness.
Under the joint security task command (Kogasgab PAM), TNI personnel, numbering 13,158, will be deployed alongside 6,182 National Police personnel in the 2023 Tri Brata Jaya Operation. Admiral Margono, the roll call inspector, emphasized in his speech that the operation reflects the commitment of Indonesian security forces to ensuring the security of the 43rd ASEAN Summit in Jakarta.
“This is not merely a formality but a demonstration of our commitment to fulfilling our tasks,” he stated.
Admiral Margono further noted that the 43rd ASEAN Summit in Jakarta differed from the ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), as it would be attended not only by leaders of ASEAN countries but also by leaders of ASEAN partner countries.
The upcoming summit in Jakarta will host 19 state leaders, including those from ASEAN partner countries. Admiral Margono commended the TNI and Polri for their successful security efforts during the G20 Summit in Bali in 2022 and the ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo, NTT, in May this year.
Consequently, he urged all personnel involved to collectively showcase Indonesia’s capability in securing international events.
“The success of this operation not only impacts the reputation of our security forces but also Indonesia’s standing at the international level,” he affirmed.
Margono also emphasized the importance of unity and synergy among TNI personnel, the National Police, and other security officers. He called for the abandonment of sectoral egos and the enhancement of communication and coordination.
Echoing Admiral Margono’s sentiments, General Prabowo urged his personnel to prioritize a humane approach to security.
“This security operation will be a reflection of Indonesia’s security standards in the eyes of the international community. Please adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOPs), demonstrate firmness with humanity, and steer clear of any deviations,” he emphasized.
