23-5-2023 (Jakarta) A significant milestone has been achieved in the construction of the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway as the joint commissioning and testing phase commenced on Monday. This crucial exercise ensures the safe and efficient operation of the high-speed railway before its official opening.
The dynamic testing is conducted using a comprehensive inspection train, which travels along the newly constructed high-speed railway, assessing and verifying the performance of various systems. This includes the tracks, power supply, overhead catenary system, communication, signaling, and early warning monitoring. The objective is to ensure the seamless functioning of these critical components.
All civil engineering work, including the construction of roadbeds, bridges, culverts, and tunnels, has been successfully completed. The necessary preparations for operation are currently underway in an organized manner.
Once the joint commissioning and testing phase are concluded, further running trials and safety assessments will be carried out before the high-speed railway officially begins operations.
The Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway, a prominent project under the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative, serves as a vital link between Indonesia’s capital, Jakarta, and the major city of Bandung.
With an impressive design speed of 350 kilometers per hour, this remarkable railway spans 142.3 kilometers, significantly reducing the travel time between Jakarta and Bandung from over three hours to a mere 40 minutes.
