13-2-2024 (BANGKOK) Thaksin Shinawatra, the former prime minister of Thailand who has been serving a prison sentence, is set to be released, according to the country’s justice minister. The news was announced on Tuesday, with the possibility of his release as early as the upcoming weekend.
Justice Minister Tawee Sodsong revealed that around 930 prisoners, including Thaksin, will have their sentences suspended. Thaksin falls into the category of individuals who are either in critical condition or are above the age of 70. As a result, he will be automatically released after six months, as per the minister’s statement made at the government house.
