15-10-2023 (MARWAHIN) On Sunday, Israeli warplanes launched an attack on the outskirts of the town of Marwahin in southern Lebanon, firing two air-to-surface missiles, according to Lebanese military sources. Witnesses reported seeing a thick plume of black smoke rising from the targeted area while Israeli military and reconnaissance aircraft continued to fly over Lebanese airspace.
In addition to the airstrike, the sources revealed that heavy Israeli artillery fired 45 shells towards the outskirts of the border towns of Marwahin and Blida in southwest Lebanon. The escalation of hostilities along the Lebanese-Israeli border has raised concerns about the potential for further violence and instability in the region.
Earlier in the day, Hezbollah, a prominent armed group and political party based in Lebanon, launched a guided Kornet missile at Zahr al-Jamal, an Israeli military site in southwest Lebanon. Israeli media reported that the attack resulted in the death of one Israeli soldier and left three others injured.
The recent escalation of tensions can be traced back to Hezbollah’s firing of multiple missiles towards military sites in Shebaa Farms on October 8, in support of the “Al-Aqsa Flood” operation initiated by Hamas the previous day. In response, Israeli forces retaliated by firing heavy artillery, targeting several areas in southeast Lebanon.
