8-10-2023 (GAZA) The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that fighter jets conducted airstrikes on Sunday afternoon, local time, targeting three military headquarters used by terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip.
The IDF stated that these airstrikes specifically targeted military headquarters affiliated with the Hamas terrorist organization, which were employed for directing acts of terror. Additionally, military headquarters linked to the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization, which had been utilized in recent operations, were also struck. Further airstrikes targeted military headquarters connected to the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization, specifically those used by the group’s rocket forces.
Live video feeds on Sunday captured the aftermath of the airstrikes, displaying multiple explosions and significant plumes of smoke rising from the northern and eastern regions of Gaza, including the Beit Hanoun area.
Israel has continued its sustained aerial assault on Gaza through a series of airstrikes, resulting in more than 300 casualties, according to the Palestinian health ministry.
Israel’s security cabinet has officially declared a state of war, as announced by the government press office on Sunday. This declaration comes in the wake of a “murderous terrorist assault from the Gaza Strip” on Saturday, as stated in the government’s press release.
In response to the attack carried out by Palestinian militants, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has pledged that the country will seek “mighty vengeance.”
The decision to declare a state of war was made in accordance with Article 40 of Israel’s Basic Law, which serves a similar function to a written constitution, as Israel lacks an official constitution.
