22-4-2024 (KUALA LUMPUR) Controversial influencer, model, and actress Siew Pui Yi, better known as Ms Puiyi, held a press conference today announcing her decision to sue her former partner for a staggering RM4.3 million (S$1.2 million). The amount comprises RM4 million in special damages and an additional RM300,000 for other costs related to her personal and corporate income tax dealings.
Prior to the press conference, Ms Puiyi took to her social media accounts on Friday (19 April), inviting media practitioners to attend the event, although she remained tight-lipped about the subject matter.
As reported by Harian Metro, the 25-year-old model revealed that she has filed a civil suit against her former business partner, a 29-year-old man known as ‘Mentos,’ who previously served as a board of director member in Ms Puiyi’s company, PY Empire Sdn Bhd.
During the press conference in Georgetown, Penang, Ms Puiyi alleged that the man had deceived her into handing over a substantial sum of money under the pretext of settling tax arrears with the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (LHDN). However, Ms Puiyi claims that she was cheated out of the funds, prompting her to file this civil suit in an attempt to reclaim the money.
According to Ms Puiyi, ‘Mentos’ was entrusted with overseeing human resources matters and advising on investment decisions for the company’s funds.
In a related development, a police report has been lodged at the Timur Laut District Police Headquarters in Penang on 24 October last year, further escalating the legal proceedings surrounding this high-profile case.
The allegations leveled against ‘Mentos’ have sent shockwaves through the influencer community, with many expressing their support for Ms Puiyi and her quest for justice. The case has also sparked a broader conversation about the potential risks and vulnerabilities faced by influencers and public figures in the realm of business partnerships and financial dealings.
