5-7-2023 (SINGAPORE) A massive industrial fire, equivalent in size to a football field, erupted in Tuas during the early hours of Wednesday. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) received an alert about the fire at 11 Tuas Link 1 at approximately 2:05 am.
With swift action, the blaze was successfully contained and extinguished by around 6:15 am. The affected premises, which stored and distributed chemicals, had been engulfed by the fire.
A significant response effort was deployed to tackle the fire, involving 30 emergency vehicles and around 100 personnel. During the height of the firefighting operation, firefighters utilized five water and foam jets, along with two unmanned firefighting machines.

Unfortunately, one firefighter experienced giddiness during the operation and was promptly transported to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital. However, the firefighter was conscious and in stable condition. After receiving treatment, the individual has been discharged and will be given ample time to rest. The SCDF will continue to monitor the firefighter’s well-being.
To prevent any potential rekindling of the fire, firefighters are currently conducting damping down operations. SCDF highlighted that the firefighting efforts at 11 Tuas Link 1 are anticipated to continue for an extended period.
In an earlier Facebook post at around 3:30 am, when the firefighting operations were still ongoing, SCDF reported that the fire was raging at the premises upon their arrival. To contain the flames and prevent them from spreading to neighboring buildings, firefighters deployed four water jets and an unmanned firefighting machine.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported at the time. An update provided by SCDF at approximately 6:10 am informed the public that the fire had been brought under control. However, due to the ongoing firefighting operations, people were advised to avoid the area.
As a result of the blaze, train services between Tuas Link and Tuas West Road experienced disruptions for nearly two hours, as stated in a Facebook post by SMRT. Train services resumed their normal operations at 7:21 am.
