14-11-2023 (SINGAPORE) A fire erupted in an industrial building in Tuas on Tuesday morning, prompting the evacuation of seven individuals. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) reported the incident at 46 Tech Park Crescent on Facebook at 11:48 am, deploying 15 emergency vehicles and around 80 personnel to address the situation.
The SCDF was alerted to the fire around 7:15 am. Upon arrival, they found the fire blazing on the first floor of a two-storey industrial building, covering an area of approximately 20m by 20m. The fire affected an office space and a storage area containing tools and materials for metal works.
Before the SCDF’s arrival, six individuals had already evacuated the building, and the SCDF safely evacuated another person from the second floor. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
During the firefighting operation, four water jets were employed to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to neighboring premises. The fire was successfully extinguished by approximately 8:40 am.
In a Facebook post at 7:54 am, the SCDF informed users of the SGSecure mobile app, as well as M1, StarHub, and SingTel mobile subscribers in the vicinity of the fire, to stay away from the area. An update at 9:20 am confirmed the fire’s extinguishment, with firefighters conducting damping down activities to prevent rekindling by wetting hot burnt surfaces.
