22-6-2023 (JAKARTA) The Cooperatives and SMEs Ministry is embarking on the digipreneur program aimed at propelling Indonesia’s digital economy to new heights.
In a virtual speech during the Entrepreneur Hub Program in Batu, East Java, Siti Azizah, Deputy for Entrepreneurship at the ministry, expressed the government’s strong commitment to fostering an inclusive, agile, and sustainable digital economy ecosystem.
Azizah emphasized that the development of digital entrepreneurship is crucial to ensure that all segments of society, including those MSMEs lacking digital expertise, can harness the potential of digital economic growth.
Indonesia’s digital economy holds immense promise, with the state’s digital economy valued at US$77 billion in 2022, making it the largest in Asia.
However, Azizah pointed out that compared to Malaysia’s digital ecosystem, which recorded only US$21 billion in the same year, the neighboring country has a more advanced digital infrastructure. She highlighted that Malaysian MSMEs are well-versed in utilizing third-party services for digital marketing, freeing them from the complexities and time-consuming aspects of digital promotion. As a result, they can focus on production, while logistics are handled by the third parties.
The Entrepreneur Hub Program, currently taking place in Batu, East Java, aims to nurture opportunity-based entrepreneurs who identify and seize potential opportunities, transforming innovative and creative ideas into sustainable businesses.
Azizah emphasized that the ongoing event, which includes participants with varying levels of interest and basic skills in the digital economy, will provide coaching to enable them to become successful digital entrepreneurs.
However, support for digital entrepreneurs should not end with coaching alone. Azizah stressed the importance of facilitating access to services that can help these businesses thrive and attract a substantial customer base.
Furthermore, she expressed her hopes that the program would motivate individuals to foster collaboration and establish an entrepreneurship ecosystem through future innovative initiatives.
“This Entrepreneur Hub Program is not a one-time event that is quickly forgotten. It comprises multiple activities, and its success depends on the commitment of all collaborators involved,” Azizah remarked.
