4-6-2023 (JAKARTA) An Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) warship caught fire in the waters near Selayar Island last Saturday (3rd), fortunately with no casualties among the 119 crew members on board.
According to a statement by the Indonesian Navy, all crew members of KRI Teluk Hading-538 were transferred to the TB Bahtera Zalfa tugboat, which happened to be passing by when the incident occurred.
Reports indicate that the fire broke out in the middle section of the Frosch I 108-class warship around 2:15 p.m. local time while it was on a mission.
The cause and details of the fire are still under investigation, and no crew members have been reported injured thus far.
The Indonesian Navy added in the statement that “KRI Teluk Hading-538” has been towed to shore for further inspection.
