17-7-2023 (JAKARTA) Manpower Minister Ida Fauziyah has urged Indonesian students who have completed their education abroad to return home and contribute their competencies to the development of the country. Speaking at a seminar on “Return to Home Country After Graduating”, organized by the Overseas Indonesian Students Association Alliance (OISAA), Fauziyah expressed her concern over the increasing number of Indonesian scholarship recipients who choose not to return to Indonesia.
While acknowledging that opportunities for OISAA members to work overseas are expanding, Fauziyah emphasized that the government has been working to improve welfare across all sectors, including employment and education, to encourage Indonesians abroad to participate in the country’s development. The minister highlighted the Manpower Ministry’s young talent development programs, such as Talent Scouting, Talent Fast, Talent Corner, and Talent Class, as initiatives that returning students can utilize.
Fauziyah also noted that several digital employment service ecosystem platforms, such as Skillhub for competency improvement, Karirhub for job vacancy information, and Bizhub for facilitating training, mentoring, business networks, and financing for entrepreneurs, are available to OISAA students. While acknowledging that the government cannot prevent individuals from making choices in their lives, Fauziyah stressed the importance of building a more advanced nation together.
