17-5-2023 (Jakarta), Humbang Hasundutan a district in North Sumatra, is the setting for a harrowing trial involving the heinous crime of a man named Harapam Munthe. Munthe stands accused of murdering his wife by dismembering her body and cooking the flesh. The prosecution has called for a life sentence for the defendant.
As reported by detikSumut on Monday (May 15, 2023), according to the court records from the Tarutung District Court’s Case Search Information System (SIPP), the sentencing hearing for Harapam Munthe took place on Thursday (May 11). The prosecutor demanded a life sentence for the defendant.
“The prosecution requests that the panel of judges at the Tarutung District Court, which presides over and adjudicates this case, impose a sentence of life imprisonment on the defendant,” said the prosecutor.
The prosecutor further stated, “Declare the defendant, Harapam Munthe, to be proven legally and convincingly guilty of intentionally and premeditatedly taking the life of another person, as stipulated in Article 340 of the Indonesian Criminal Code in the primary charge presented by the public prosecutor.”
The tragic incident occurred on Friday morning, November 11, 2022, at the perpetrator’s residence in Pasaribu Village, Dolok Sanggul Sub-district, Humbang Hasundutan District. The perpetrator brutally killed the victim and dismembered her body. Shockingly, the perpetrator even boiled the victim’s flesh.
