3-2-2025 (JAKARTA) The Indonesian government has successfully reclaimed 6.7 trillion rupiah ($400 million) in misappropriated state funds, according to a high-ranking official’s announcement on Friday.
The remarkable recovery, achieved within just three months of President Prabowo Subianto’s Red and White Cabinet taking office, marks a watershed moment in the nation’s fight against corruption. Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Budi Gunawan revealed the development during a press briefing in Jakarta.
“These recovered funds will be channelled back into public services and development projects,” Gunawan told reporters. “Our success demonstrates the unwavering resolve of President Subianto’s administration to root out corruption at all levels.”
The breakthrough came through painstaking investigations conducted by the newly established Coordinating Desk for Corruption Prevention and Governance Improvement, operating under Gunawan’s ministry. This specialised unit works in close collaboration with the country’s premier anti-graft body, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), and the National Police’s dedicated Corruption Eradication Corps.
The anti-corruption desk represents an unprecedented collaboration between various government bodies, bringing together expertise from 14 different ministries and agencies. Notable participants include the Attorney General’s Office, the Government’s Development Finance Comptroller (BPKP), and the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (PPATK).
Speaking about future initiatives, Gunawan emphasised the government’s commitment to maintaining this momentum. “This is just the beginning,” he stated. “We have established robust mechanisms to prevent corruption and ensure that public funds serve their intended purpose – the welfare of our citizens.”
