20-12-2023 (SEOUL) The Incheon Metropolitan Police have officially dismissed allegations of illicit drug use against K-Pop sensation G-Dragon, born Kwon Ji-yong. The former BIGBANG frontman found himself under scrutiny amid the strict narcotics policies of President Yoon Suk Yeol’s administration.
After a thorough investigation, law enforcement officials announced on Tuesday that they lacked the necessary evidence to pursue legal action. This decision comes despite the heightened focus of the current government on combating drug-related offenses, as reported by the Yonhap News Agency.
Efforts to obtain comments from both police representatives and G-Dragon’s team on Wednesday were not immediately successful, according to Reuters.
G-Dragon, renowned not only as a musical artist but also as a fashion icon and prolific songwriter, vehemently denied the accusations. His voluntary appearance at a police station last month for questioning aimed to unequivocally assert his innocence.
In a televised interview with Yonhap News TV, the 35-year-old artist strongly refuted the allegations, supporting his statement with references to negative drug test results. “I have never used drugs, received or given drugs to anyone,” G-Dragon asserted, distancing himself from the cloud of suspicion cast upon him.
