21-11-2023 (SINGAPORE) Hyundai Motor Group officially inaugurated its Innovation Center, the country’s premier electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing facility, designed to produce up to 30,000 electric vehicles annually, with almost half of the workforce comprised of robots. The company is poised to strengthen collaboration with Singapore, charting new possibilities for the future of mobile transportation.
The Innovation Center, situated in Jurong Innovation District, boasts a seven-story structure covering 86,900 square meters. Conceived as a “Smart Urban Mobility Hub,” the facility incorporates highly automated and flexible production systems, offering customers a unique car-buying experience.
Functioning as an experimental platform for future mobility solutions, the center commenced operations earlier this year, manufacturing the IONIQ 5 model of electric vehicles and fully automated robot taxis. Starting next year, production will extend to the IONIQ 6. Hyundai Motor Group envisions collaborating with the National Museum of Singapore, donating the first IONIQ 5 produced in the local facility to become part of the National Collection under the auspices of the National Heritage Board.
The establishment of Hyundai’s Innovation Center in Singapore represents a significant step towards the integration of cutting-edge technology and sustainable transportation solutions.
