11-7-2023 (CALIFORNIA) Hugh Jackman’s portrayal of Wolverine in the X-Men movies has been hailed as one of the greatest superhero performances of all time. Despite his success, Jackman never wore the iconic yellow-and-blue suit that’s synonymous with the character in the comics.
However, fans were delighted when Ryan Reynolds posted a photo on Monday night (Jul 10) of himself and Jackman on the set of Deadpool 3, both sporting new superhero suits. Jackman’s costume was inspired by the Astonishing X-Men comic series, featuring a mostly yellow tactical suit with a few blue accents.
Reynolds’ Deadpool costume also received a few upgrades, with a brighter red suit and a mask that mirrors the character’s look in the comics.
The picture went viral, with fans expressing their excitement at finally seeing a comic-accurate Wolverine costume after 23 years. Some social media accounts even tried to enhance the photo to get a closer look at the suits.
Deadpool 3 is set to be released on May 3, 2024, and will be the first Deadpool movie to take place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) following Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox.
In September 2022, Ryan Reynolds revealed that Hugh Jackman would be reprising his role as Wolverine, despite supposedly retiring from the character after 2017’s Logan.
