26-5-2024 (BANGKOK) The harrowing event, captured in a 12-second video clip shared on the FM91 Trafficpro Facebook page, unfolded around 11:30 am on the flyover above the Phraram 5 roundabout on Nakhon In Road in Muang district. A speeding Honda Jazz, in a misguided attempt to overtake, tried to squeeze between an Isuzu pickup truck and a Mitsubishi van travelling side by side in adjacent lanes.
The narrow space between the vehicles proved insufficient for the compact car to pass through safely. In a split-second, the Honda Jazz collided with the rear ends of both the pickup truck and the van, causing a violent impact that lifted the car onto the truck.
The situation quickly escalated as the van swerved, smashing into the entangled vehicles. The force of the collision sent the Honda Jazz hurtling over the flyover wall, plummeting approximately seven metres to the ground below.
Emergency services swiftly responded to the scene, where the 21-year-old driver of the Honda Jazz was found injured and promptly transported to Vajira Hospital for medical treatment.
While the investigation into the incident is ongoing, the dramatic footage serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of safe and responsible driving practices. Reckless overtaking manoeuvres on busy roads not only endanger the lives of the drivers involved but also put innocent bystanders at risk.
