24-8-2023 (KUALA LUMPUR) Renowned Hong Kong actress Charmaine Sheh, who arrived in Malaysia in July for a TV drama shooting, has extended her stay in the country for nearly two months. Known for her love of durians and a particular fondness for Penang delicacies, Sheh has been exploring the local culinary scene in her free time.
In a recent encounter, Sheh was spotted immersing herself in the art of frying Char Kuey Teow, a popular Penang street food, under the guidance of a roadside stall owner. Embracing her foodie side beyond her regular shooting schedule, the actress enthusiastically delved into the experience and even shared her Penang prawn noodle adventures on social media, declaring herself a devoted fan of the dish.
A video capturing Sheh’s culinary escapade has since gone viral online. In the footage, the actress can be seen dressed in a white t-shirt and a pleated skirt adorned with white polka dots on a black background, standing in front of the Char Kuey Teow cart. With the stall owner offering instructions, Sheh skillfully fries the noodles with her right hand while pouring soy sauce with her left, fully engrossed in the learning process.
Amidst the cooking session, a nearby woman loudly advises Sheh, affectionately called Ah Sheh, to “stir it from both sides!” The stall owner adds a touch of humor, cautioning her not to burn the noodles. Undeterred, Sheh confidently assures them, “I won’t!”
During her time at the stall, Sheh also graciously posed for a photo with the stall owner, appreciating the opportunity to learn from a local culinary expert. However, after tirelessly frying the noodles single-handedly for a while, the slender-armed actress eventually admitted defeat.
“It’s so tiring! It’s hard work!” she exclaimed, gently patting the stall owner as a gesture of gratitude. With a cheerful demeanor, Sheh bid farewell and returned to her shooting commitments, leaving behind an unforgettable culinary experience.
