27-9-2023 (MEXICO CITY) The city of Monterrey in Mexico’s metropolitan region was gripped by fear and horror as mutilated corpses and severed body parts were discovered at seven different locations on Tuesday, marking a surge of violence that deeply unsettled the residents of this industrial hub.
Authorities are currently in the process of analyzing the dismembered body parts in an attempt to determine the number of individuals who fell victim to these gruesome acts. Local media reports suggest that the toll may reach as high as 12 victims, with some of the macabre discoveries found concealed in coolers.
The chilling scenes harkened back to a grim period in the 2010s when violent conflicts among drug cartels plunged Monterrey into chaos, resulting in bodies being left strewn in the streets or hung from bridges.
The city had experienced a relative lull in such brutality, even gaining prominence as the chosen location for a new Tesla car manufacturing plant.
However, the tranquillity was shattered on Tuesday when a series of events appeared to be interconnected, with strong indications of an internal conflict within a criminal group based in the adjacent state of Tamaulipas, according to authorities.
Pedro Jardon, the Attorney General of Nuevo Leon, addressing questions from reporters on Tuesday, revealed, “From the messages that were left near the bodies, there’s a correlation.”
Photographs of these purported messages have been circulating in the local press and on social media, hinting that these brutal acts might have been carried out by the Northeast Cartel as an act of retribution for alleged infiltrations into the group. However, it’s important to note that the attorney general’s office has not officially confirmed the authenticity of these photos.
