11-10-2023 (GAZA) Israeli soldiers have reportedly found the decapitated corpses of babies at Kfar Aza, a kibbutz near Gaza, as the ongoing conflict in the region intensifies. Major Nir Dinar, a spokesperson for the Israel Defense Forces, confirmed the discovery but did not provide specific details regarding the number of babies involved or how many had been beheaded.
Independent confirmation of these reports is currently lacking, though several Israeli media outlets have published similar claims attributed to soldiers who were present at the scene. Dinar stated that while he had not personally seen images or videos, he had received information from soldiers on the ground.
Dinar further described the actions of Hamas, stating, “These people [Hamas] are animals. They have butchered women and children in worse ways than ISIS.”
The attacks on Kfar Aza occurred on Saturday when Hamas militants targeted the self-sustaining rural community near Gaza. Heavy fighting continued into Sunday as Hamas sought to breach the gate separating the Gaza territory from Israel. Israeli news station i24News reported that soldiers at the scene described discovering beheaded babies.
According to Nicole Zedek, reporting from Kfar Aza, the soldiers mentioned that “babies, their heads cut off” were among the gruesome discoveries. She added that soldiers were visibly distraught, consoling each other. In a separate clip, she stated that a commander had informed her that “about 40 babies, at least, were taken out on gurneys.”
The conflict has resulted in many casualties on both sides. According to the Israeli embassy in the US, as of Tuesday, at least 1,000 Israelis, mostly civilians, have lost their lives. Reports and videos of Hamas kidnapping Israelis and holding them hostage in Gaza have emerged since the attack on Saturday. Israeli officials have notified at least 50 families that their loved ones are being held by Hamas. In response, Hamas has threatened to publicly execute an Israeli hostage every time Israel strikes Gaza without warning.
Israel’s retaliatory airstrikes have resulted in at least 830 casualties in Gaza, according to The Washington Post, citing the Health Ministry in Gaza. Among the casualties are at least 140 children, according to the latest update from the Palestinian Ministry of Health, posted on Monday.
The situation has escalated further with Israel imposing a full “siege” on Gaza, disrupting supplies and cutting off electricity for civilians living in the region.
