6-9-2023 (SAN FRANCISCO) Planning your next flight just got a bit easier with the latest feature from Google Flights, the online flight comparison service. This feature aims to assist travelers in deciding when to book their flights to secure the best deals.
Google Flights is leveraging its extensive database of flight data to provide users with valuable insights into the optimal times for booking flights to specific destinations. When users search for flights, they may now receive on-screen messages like “the cheapest time to book is usually later, from September 13 to December 7,” offering data-backed advice on when to secure lower fares.
This addition complements Google Flights’ existing features, including the ability to assess whether current flight prices are low, typical, or high compared to historical averages. The platform also offers price tracking, alerting users to significant fare drops for selected or flexible dates.
Moreover, travelers browsing certain flight options may notice a “price guarantee” badge. This badge indicates that the fare displayed will remain stable until the departure date. In the event that the price does drop after booking, Google will refund the difference through Google Pay. However, this feature is currently limited to flights departing from the United States.
To make the most of these features and find budget-friendly options, travelers are advised to consider routes with layovers and to avoid weekend departures, particularly for long-haul flights. Google Flights aims to simplify the booking process and help users secure affordable airfare with its array of tools and insights.
