26-9-2024 (KUALA LUMPUR) In a significant development following the recent child abuse scandal that has rocked Malaysia, a member of Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISB) is set to face legal proceedings tomorrow. The case, which has sent shockwaves through the nation, centres around allegations of child abuse at a care home associated with the company.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain confirmed the impending legal action in a statement to the press today. “The suspect, who is linked to a viral video depicting the abuse of children at a GISB-affiliated care home, will be formally charged tomorrow at the Klang Sessions Court,” he announced.
The charges will be brought under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001, a legislation designed to protect the rights and welfare of children in Malaysia. This section specifically deals with ill-treatment, neglect, abandonment, or exposure of children to physical or emotional injury.
The case first came to light when a disturbing video surfaced on social media platforms, showing a child being subjected to abuse. The footage prompted an immediate police investigation, which led to a broader operation dubbed ‘Ops Global’.
In a sweeping action that began on 11th September, law enforcement agencies rescued a staggering 572 children from various care homes linked to GISB. Among these rescued minors was the boy featured in the viral video, who authorities say has been separated from his father since 2021.
