12-9-2024 (KUALA LUMPUR) Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISB) has vehemently refuted allegations of sexual assault and sodomy at its affiliated premises following large-scale police raids on charity homes across two Malaysian states. The company’s deputy director of administration, Mokhtar Tajudin, spoke out against the claims in an interview with the Malay language portal mStar.
“These accusations of sodomy are entirely baseless,” Tajudin asserted. “As an Islamic organisation, such actions are completely incompatible with our principles.” He further contested claims that children in the charity homes were neglected or mistreated.
Tajudin raised questions about the exact relationship between the raided premises and GISB, stating, “There’s a lack of clarity regarding which homes are directly operated by GISB. Some of the raided locations were business premises merely under GISB’s guidance.”
Emphasising the company’s commitment to staff welfare, Tajudin added, “GISB takes great care of its employees, even providing vaccinations.”
The company is currently seeking legal counsel and preparing to address the allegations comprehensively. “We’re organising a thorough press conference in the near future to respond to these claims. We will not remain silent,” Tajudin declared.
He noted that the police have not yet contacted any senior management at GISB but affirmed the company’s willingness to cooperate with the ongoing investigation.
The statements come in the wake of a massive police operation, dubbed ‘Ops Global’, which saw the rescue of 402 children from 20 care homes in Selangor and Negri Sembilan on Wednesday. Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain reported that the rescued children, evenly split between boys and girls, ranged from one to 17 years of age.
The operation also resulted in the arrest of 171 suspects, including a teacher and dormitory caretakers, aged between 17 and 64. All suspects have been remanded for seven days as investigations continue.
