26-5-2023 (Jakarta) A German tourist has been taken into custody after causing a disturbance by stripping naked and intruding on a sacred performance at a temple in Indonesia.
The incident unfolded when 28-year-old Darja Tuschinski was denied entry to a Hindu show in Bali. Allegedly, she forcefully bypassed security and proceeded to remove her clothes in a peculiar protest. The blonde backpacker confidently walked past the dancers and forcefully opened a grand set of gilded doors.
In an unusual display, when a local man attempted to intervene, Tuschinski curtsied, mimicking the movements of the dancers, before proceeding to kneel beside a shrine in what appeared to be a gesture of prayer.
Shocked onlookers, seated in chairs, witnessed the tourist’s audacious actions as she continued her naked rampage and returned to the stage. Frustrated security personnel swiftly intervened, apprehending Darja for disrupting the performance. She was then handed over to the police in the Ubud district of the popular holiday island.

If found guilty of violating Indonesia’s public indecency laws, Tuschinski could face a prison sentence of up to two years and eight months.
Stefanus Satake Bayu Setianto, the Head of Bali Police Public Relations, stated, “The incident involving a naked foreign woman occurred on the stage of the Puri Saraswati Hotel in Ubud, Gianyar Regency. She was residing alone. During her stay at Ubud Bungalow, she was frequently observed walking around the villa area in the nude.”
The staff at Saraswati Ubud Temple expressed their apologies to visitors and conducted a ritual to cleanse the area of any negative energy caused by the intruder.
Following her arrest, the police conducted drug and alcohol tests on Tuschinski, though the results have not yet been disclosed. Authorities believe that financial difficulties and the denial of a ticket to the exclusive show, where women performed a dance honoring their deities in traditional attire, may have led to heightened stress for Darja.
Wayan Widana, the chief of the local council, revealed that Tuschinski had been grappling with “depression” due to a lack of funds for her extended trip.
Anggiat Napitupulu, the Head of the Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights for the Bali Region, confirmed that Darja underwent questioning at the police station before being transferred to the hospital for physical and psychological evaluations.
“We are currently investigating this case, and we deeply regret that this incident occurred,” Napitupulu remarked.
