24-11-2024 (KUALA LUMPUR) Four people were dramatically rescued from a devastating blaze that consumed a two-storey shophouse and three adjacent commercial premises in Kampung Sungai Chua during the early hours of Sunday morning.
Emergency services mounted a swift response after receiving the distress call at 3:28 AM, with firefighters forced to use bolt cutters to free two men and two women, aged between 27 and 58, who were trapped inside the burning buildings.
Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar, assistant director of the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department, reported that 25 firefighters were deployed to tackle the inferno, which had already consumed 75% of the main shophouse and 90% of the three neighbouring shops upon their arrival.
“Our teams acted quickly to breach the locked doors and extract the victims, who were immediately transferred to a nearby hospital suffering from smoke inhalation,” Mukhtar said in an official statement.
