8-10-2023 (BANGKOK) The body of a former Thai ambassador to Denmark was discovered in a bathroom in his upscale residence in Bangkok’s Chatuchak district early on a Sunday morning.
Pol Capt Puthipong Hongthong, the deputy chief investigator at Suthisan police station, reported that the untimely death was uncovered by a group of workers who had come to the house in Soi Vibhavadi Rangsit 20 in the Chomphon area of Chatuchak district. They had an appointment with the homeowner to carry out some repairs.
Upon arrival, the workers repeatedly pressed the buzzer at the front gate, but received no response. However, they soon detected a foul odor emanating from the house and promptly alerted the police. To their surprise, the three-storey house had been locked from the inside, and neighbors had reported noticing an unpleasant smell in the area a few days earlier.
Once the police arrived at the scene, they observed that the light in one of the bedrooms was still on. After conducting a thorough search of the residence, they came across a body in a bathroom on the second floor, which had been concealed beneath three to four cardboard sheets.
The deceased was later identified as Wichit Chitwiman, a 63-year-old former Thai ambassador to Denmark, who had been living alone in the house.
Suthisan police launched an investigation to ascertain the cause of death.
