3-8-2023 (BANGKOK) Former Member of Parliament Chuwit Kamolvisit has made serious accusations against Pheu Thai Prime Ministerial Candidate Srettha Thavisin, alleging that he assisted 12 individuals in evading taxes amounting to 521.13 million baht.
According to Chuwit, these 12 individuals were listed on the same land deed for a property located on Sarasin Road. Through covert transactions, they managed to avoid paying the substantial taxes associated with the land sales.
Chuwit claims that Srettha played a pivotal role in facilitating the tax evasion scheme. In 2019, Srettha purportedly purchased the land from these individuals at a rate of 4 million baht per square wah. Chuwit argues that the buyer cannot simply claim ignorance of the tax evasion and may potentially be viewed as an accomplice in the matter.
However, Sansiri, the company where Srettha previously served as CEO, has strongly denied these allegations. They assert that Srettha was solely responsible for the approval process of land acquisition and the evaluation of investment value. They further state that he had no involvement in the transfer of land rights.
