21-5-2023 (Istanbul) Flights in the southeastern region of Turkey came to a halt for a duration of 12 hours in the early hours of Saturday following an alleged sighting of an unidentified flying object (UFO) on the radar of a passenger plane. Reports from Anadolu indicate that the radar of an incoming plane at Gaziantep airport picked up an object at an altitude of 2743.2 meters (9,000 feet) that authorities have been unable to identify.
Upon receiving the pilots’ report, the air traffic control unit swiftly redirected incoming flights to Adana and Sanliurfa airports. Consequently, at least 18 flights were cancelled, leaving passengers stranded while authorities investigated the situation.
The suspension of flights for this extended period has caused significant disruptions to air travel in the region, resulting in delays and cancellations that have affected hundreds of passengers. Moreover, this incident has raised concerns regarding the potential impact of unidentified objects on air traffic and overall safety.
