According to local authorities, the incident unfolded around 6 pm on Monday when heavy rainfall lashed the region, causing a rapid and alarming rise in river levels. The deluge not only led to flash flooding but also destabilised the soil in several areas, triggering landslides that further compounded the emergency situation.
The abrupt onset of this weather-related crisis has prompted swift action from local disaster management teams. “Efforts to clean the roads and affected areas are actively underway to ensure the situation is safe again for local residents,” the department announced in its Tuesday statement. This proactive approach underscores the authorities’ commitment to restoring normalcy and ensuring the safety of the Kampung Sungai Ruil community.
